: By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. use basic phonetic and phonological concepts to analyse English speech patterns (C4); 2. display a high level of competence in reading phonetic transcriptions and transcribing English words with the International Phonetic Alphabet (P3); 3. work in groups to analyse and explain English speech patterns (A4)

SINOPSIS

: This course covers the phenomenon of speech sound – the phone and phoneme; the English vowel and consonant system; the phonetic and phonemic notation, and transcription; the syllable and connected speech, and also phonotactics and prosody. (Kursus ini merangkumi fenomenon bunyi – fon dan fonem; system vowel dan konsonan Inggeris; notasi dan transkripsi fonetik dan fonemik; suku kata dan cakapan yang berangkaian; juga fonotaktik dan prosodi Bahasa Inggeris.)
