Joe the Gorilla climbed a tree, and once he was at the top he started swinging on vines. He kept swinging on vines until it was getting dark. Then he was at his shop in Treehouse Town. His shop was very important to him. Joe sold mostly fruit and building materials.

He checked his store. Everything was fine, so he went home to sleep. At Joe’s store four monkeys slowly sneaked through a window, but no alarm went off. The monkeys crept over to his fruit. They stole a lot of his kiwi and left without leaving any evidence. Joe came back to his store in the morning and was shocked when he saw the kiwi. It was nearly gone!

Joe told the cops that he was robbed. They said that they couldn’t help him unless he knew their name or had a photo. So, Joe made a simple contraption to take a picture. That night the monkeys tripped on something and heard a CLICK-CLICK. The monkeys found the camera and threw it and the picture away.

Joe was frustrated already, so he went out to buy security cameras and put them around the shop. When the monkeys arrived, they stole all the security cameras that recorded them. Joe came back and was pretty upset that the expensive camera plan didn’t work, but he had a better idea.

The police station was only two trees away, so he was able to make a Rube Goldberg machine to make a ball roll to the police station and ring their door bell. There was a note on the ball that told them to come to Joe’s store. When the monkeys came, everything went according to plan—except the monkeys were gone by the time the police got there.

Joe sat down on The Sofa of Thinking and mumbled, “Maybe I shouldn’t have used an eight-ball.” Then he finally thought of something that might work. He put a bunch of tripwires around the fruit that triggers a cage to fall on them. The next morning he saw that it worked! He called over the police, and they arrested the monkeys.
