Douglas Lee Bacon, 72, of Pierre, passed away December 19, 2017 at Avera-St. Mary’s Hospital. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Feigum Funeral Home. Doug was born on July 26, 1945 to Phillip L. and Doreen (Osness) Bacon. He grew up on the farm by Houghton. He attended James School (country) and then Jr. and Sr. High School in Claremont, graduating in 1964. Doug worked with his dad on the family dairy farm and then attended trade school in Watertown to be a TV repairman in 1977 and 1978. Following his father’s passing, Doug, along with his mother Doreen and brother Clayton moved to Pierre where he assisted his mother. This allowed her to remain in her home during her later years of life. In 2011 Doug and Clayton moved in with their sister Lori. Doug was a quiet man. He loved baseball (Go Yankees!!), was quite a WWI, WWII and civil war history buff, loved music and a good comedy – better yet a good western. Doug was a loving brother, uncle, and great uncle. He will be missed by his siblings: Darrell E. (Carol) Bacon of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mark (O’Mara) Bacon of Huston, TX, and Clayton Bacon of Pierre; sister Lori Niehoff (Eric Reeves) of Pierre; nieces and nephews: Alicia, Eric, Michelle, Kevin, Paige, Bryan and Alania along with numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be missed greatly by us all till we meet again.
