Addendum #1 – Bid #18000029 - “Installation of Ceramic Floor Tile in Water Pollution ECU Laboratory” Due Thursday, November 16, 2017 @ 3:00 p.m. (EST)

This addendum has been issued pursuant to questions generated in the pre-bid meeting of 11/8/17. The addendum further defines and clarifies the scope/specifications detail information for some items listed in the original bid documents. This “Addendum #1” shall serve as additional scope of performance to the original documents and shall now be considered as part of the total bid requirements and all supportive documentation. 1. The City of Flint WPC is recommending and has selected their own 12” x 24” industrial/commercial grade tile which they intend to provide and make available at time of installation. The specifics of that tile may be determined by contacting WPC staff at the number listed in the original bid documents. 2. Temporary transitional edging will be utilized at both office entrances in the bid drawings where the installation of tiling in this bid will stop allowing for future continuation of tile floor at a later date. 3. There are two floor drains that will need adjustment and adaption to transition correctly with finished tile work. It is the intent of the City of Flint WPC staff to perform this work. The new tile installation shall be chipped away in such a way as to allow for WPC staff to make necessary alterations to the drain plumbing. Alternative smaller squares of product producing a mosaic pattern may be considered in the layout of the 12” x 24” surrounding these floor drains and may be considered to ease and facilitate in minimal cutting and seaming. All bids must clearly describe and propose the product and specification compatibility of the smaller squares meeting or exceeding the 12” x 24” final tile specification and being of a grade suitable for the potential presence of caustic or staining chemicals that might be used in the laboratory’s operation. Proposed tile for this adaption must be clearly described in writing with specification at the time of bid and the extent of dimension surrounding drains agreed by City of Flint WPC staff. Final color and pattern selection shall be approved by owner prior to award. 4. The slope integrity of drainage surrounding the existing floor drains must be maintained and allowed for in the installation of the new tile. These drains are found in proximity of the

1st office doorway and the “Incubator” door as located in the existing drawing and immediately adjacent to the existing wall shower fixtures. 5. As an alternate (optional line item) separate from the base bid as now proposed, bidders may propose a cost for their own material supply of 12” x 24” tile of an acceptable grade suitable for the laboratory environment application. All written descriptive and specification information of proposed bidder supplied tile must be supplied at time of bid. 6. Bidders will be providing acid resistant grout material suitable for this application. i.e Laticrete/Spectralock® 2000-IG or approved equal or exceeding specification. Laticrete/Spectralock® 2000 IG specifications are attached to this addendum. All other existing documents, terms and conditions in this bid remain in effect. Any additional questions regarding the proposal process may be addressed to this office.
