Arizona Repertory Singers will inaugurate their 30th anniversary season with performances of two compositions that capture the essence of their respective eras:
J. S. Bach’s Magnificat in D major Noted for its “Festive” five-part scoring for mixed voices and orchestra, and is a stylistic masterpiece of the Baroque era (1600-1750).
Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity a pastoral cantata with simplistic charm utilizing unique orchestral color and subtle harmonic nuance characteristic of early 20th century Italian music. It is a distinctive yet seldom-heard work. Several St. Cyril musicians are singers with this chorale group: Carolyn Adler, Robin Horton, and Colleen Werbylo. De Respighi está el Laud de la Natividad una cantata pastoral con encanto simplista con la utilización única del color orquestal y sutiles matices armónicos característicos de la música italiana de principios del siglo 20.
