Press Note Forest Deptt Stall Attracts huge Crowd The Forest Dept.’s pavilion erected in the CONVEX EXPO held from 9 to 11 Feb, 2012 EXPO in the premises of Garware College, Karve Road Pune on the occasion of National Conference of Biodiversity Assessment, utilization and conservation was thronged by people from all walks of life. Dr.Kasturirangan, member, planning commission, Govt. of India, Dr.VasantGawarikarMr.madhavgadgil and other dignitaries showed keen interest in the products displayed in the expo and anxiously went through the displayed exhibits. The stall housed a sweet journey to Bhamragadh Nectar. The AGMARKED and Forest pure product affordably prised is being harvested from forests in eco-friendly manner without causing any harm to the honey bees by the forest protection committee, Jiwangatta of TalukaEtapalli of GadchiroliDistt. Similarly, gift artifacts, clocks, trays made of bamboo by tribals and non tribals alike including Burads are on display in the pavilion of the Forest Dept. The bamboo handicraft articles created by artists of the gadchiroli dist.By the Forest Dept. as trainee. They are being trained in a three month course by Kala Sangam Gram VikasSanstha, Brambhapuri. This skill development project is undertaken within the integrated action plan in the left wing extremism district like Gachiroli, especially to bring the financial stability in local populace and also to develop infrastructure. The pavilion also displayed a number of multi-coloured and attractive panels depicting various aspects of biodiversity that the forest beholds, threats posed and also various schemes recently launched anew by the department. The stall was visited by a number of people included school children, senders, researchers etc. Mr.M.K.Rao, CCF (wildlife) Pune made a presentation in the conference about implementation of eco - development programme in village near Bhimashankar wildlife sanctuary. Mr.A.K.Joshi PCCF (HoFF) was the chief guest of the conference on the concluding day. Mr. Praveen Pardeshi, principal secretary (forests) govt. of Maharashtra also paid a visit to the stall and appreciated the efforts taken. Mr.Kakodkar, Chief conservator of forests, Pune, Mr.V.K.Mohan, A.P.C.C.F. (RET), Dr. Vilas Bardekar, C.C.F.(Working Plan), Pune, Mr.R.S.Kadam, Dy.C.F.Pune also paid a visit to the stall. The stall was painstakingly designed by Mr. Ravi Ghaisas under the guidance of mr.kakodkar, Mr.KamlakarDhamge, Publicity and information officer, Forests M.S. Mr.Thorat, Assistant P.I.O.(Forests), Pune and others.
