AOC-1

ANDREW: Something wrong? (Spasm of biting irony) Silly question. CASSIE: Does it have to be like this? ANDREW: No, I’m sorry. CASSIE: I’d like to be able to see River everyday, if that’s all right. How should we handle it? ANDREW: You’ll come. I’ll go. Better yet I’ll arrange to have already gone. Just let me know when you plan to show up. CASSIE: I will, thank you. ANDREW: But I meant what I said, about keeping River away from Kevin. CASSIE: Who’s that supposed to punish? ANDREW: It has nothing to do with my feelings about Kevin. I‘d just hate to see River become attached to him if he‘s not about to make a permanent commitment to you. Which I assume he hasn’t yet. CASSIE: We haven’t discussed it. (ANDREW takes this in) ANDREW: That’s your business. Mine is River. Who should see his mother, as often as possible, in fact. CASSIE: (Smiles) I like how that sounds.

But, not enough to come home.

ANDREW: (CASSIE’s mute, ANDREW’s hurt and quickly shifts gears) So, how are Blair and Starr?

CASSIE: It’s a big day for both of them. A transplant for Starr in Llanview, and microsurgery for Blair in Philadelphia. In fact, I need to get to the hospital. ANDREW: Don’t let me keep you.
