What examination or assessment will there be and what will it involve? There is no examination and the assessment is made informally, the tutor will ask questions and ask learners to demonstrate what they have learnt to the group.

How will I know I am making progress? Your tutor will give you on-going feedback. You will have an individual learning plan. On this you put where you started from. All learners have varying amounts of experience in computing, different learning styles and particular reasons for enrolling on the course. This helps you to know where you started and to monitor your own progress throughout the course. Learners are also encouraged to use many of the resources that are now available online, there are for example bulletin boards, tutorials and Idea store learning has its own VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) an online series of web pages that can be used in between sessions. You will also gain more from the course if you commit time to it outside the classroom. Is there anything else I need to know? It is always good to have a personal project or interest such as repairing old photos, preparing your photos for sharing on a site such as Flicker or creating an image for a poster. This gives you a personal goal and is also a good indicator of your progress.
