ACCES EMPLOYMENT EVENTS Employment Ontario Employment Ontario services assist job seekers with securing sustainable employment. We provide resources and information, job search workshops, and employment counselling, as well as job matching, placement, and retention services. Services are tailored to meet the individual employment and training needs of each participant. Launching Your Job Search Learn how to access the “hidden” job market using techniques such as networking and cold calling. You will prepare a script, practice your telephone skills and generate a list of companies who can benefit from your skills and experience. Resume Writing Create winning resumes and cover letters that will help you obtain an interview, discover different styles of resumes, create résumé achievement statements that help you stand out from the competition, and learn how to properly structure your cover letter. Cold Calling: Once you have learned about job search techniques and attended Launching Your Job Search, you are ready to begin contacting employers. Working with other job seekers and an Employment Consultant, you will contact real employers. If you do not have a telephone script and list of companies, we will help you develop one. Successful Interviewing Learn to prepare for an interview, answer tough questions, negotiate a salary and properly follow-up after an interview You will have an opportunity to practice your new interview skills in the workshop. Second Career Second Career provides eligible laid-off workers with skills training to help them find jobs in high-demand occupations in Ontario. Talk English Café Practice your English conversational skills in a relaxed setting. Workplace-related topics are discussed as you learn how to communicate in the Canadian workplace. A qualified language instructor will help you with your pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Apprenticeship Information Session Learn more about the variety of career options available for tradespeople how to get started as an apprentice, as well as information regarding tools and techniques. Workplace Communication Develop workplace communication skills to achieve greater success in your career. START Program A 10 week program to support women who are currently receiving Ontario Works during their re-entry into the workforce training and education.

Sales and Marketing Connections Sales and Marketing Connections helps internationally trained sales and marketing professionals succeed in the Canadian labour market by equipping participants with training that is current and relevant to Canadian practices. This unique program builds on participants’ previous sales and marketing expertise. The Leadership in Project Management component of the program is a 3-week intensive program that focuses on leadership concepts and skills as they apply to the Canadian work environment. Additionally, participants develop soft skills that have been identified by industry experts to be relevant to their success in the Canadian market place. These consist of team building, conflict management and communication skills. Human Resources Connections Human Resources Connections is a seven-week employmentoutcome pilot project designed to move internationally trained human resources professionals into their field of expertise. This project will address significant concerns regarding access to professional networks, employment opportunities, and Canadian context. Supply Chain Connections The Supply Chain Connections program assists internationally trained professionals with moving into supply chain sector roles. The program features an orientation to the supply chain sector in Canada, sector-specific workplace skills and connections with employers in the supply chain field. Leadership Connections Leadership Connections is a program designed to assist internationally trained professionals move into leadership roles within the financial services and human resources sector. Participants learn how to integrate into Canadian workplace culture and how to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients. The Mobile System Integration The Mobile Systems Integration Bridging program assists internationally trained IT professionals by equipping participants with cutting edge training that meets Canadian industry standards in the information technology field. This unique program builds on participants’ previous IT expertise. The program features 28-weeks of evening and weekend training, resulting in an educational credential from Humber College that can lead to industry certification, as well as training in Canadian workplace culture and sector-specific job search strategies. Job Search Workshop (JSW) Program A 2 Week program that offers pre-employment training to internationally educated individuals, new to Canada, and assists them in gaining Labour Market information, An Occupational Blueprint, Resume Writing, Networking, Interview Skills, individual coaching and an Action Plan that includes referral to other programs and services for Newcomers in the Community.

Financial Services Connections Financial Services Connections™ provides internationally trained financial services professionals with practical job search information and connections with employers in the financial sector. Participants learn how to integrate into Canadian workplace culture and how to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients within the financial services industry. The program has the following two streams: The Customer Service Stream prepares participants for the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course and customer service jobs in the financial services sector. The Accounting Stream provides the fundamentals of the Canadian Taxation Principles in order to move towards their Canadian accounting designation with training delivered by George Brown College. Engineering Connections Engineering Connections supports internationally trained engineers to secure employment within the engineering sector. Participants learn and practice effective job search strategies, develop an understanding of workplace communication and employer expectations, and learn about the engineering labour market in the province and across Canada. They gain important insights on professional engineering standards and professional licensing in Ontario. Information Technology (IT) Connections IT Connections helps internationally trained IT professionals pursue their careers in Canada. Participants learn Canadian IT-sector standards, terminology, and tips on how to enhance their job search. IT Connections was designed in close collaboration with key stakeholders – employers, professional associations and an academic institution. During and after the program, participants have the opportunity to enhance their IT network by connecting with employers through ACCES’ Employer Network and Alumni Groups. One of the key components of this program is the job retention support that addresses employment needs related to language and sector-specific soft skills development. Entrepreneurship Connections Entrepreneurship Connections is for newcomers who plan to start a business in Canada. If you have owned or operated a business outside Canada, this innovative and informative program will help you translate that experience to the Canadian market. You will receive individual coaching to start a business, the foundations of a business plan, legal consultation for a business launch, an established mentor and more. This program operates part-time for four weeks so that you will have time to apply what you are learning in the classroom. Mentoring Services Provide sector specific and occupation specific information, advice and help to develop your network of contacts in Canada. Language for Workplace Connections (LWC) Provide participants with the skills to communicate effectively in the Canadian workplace. This program covers small talk, understanding cultural differences and building professional relationships. Participants also learn how to write appropriate business correspondence, develop presentations, and communicate effectively over the telephone.
