Employment Services Our Employment Services assist job seekers with securing sustainable employment. We provide resources and information, job search workshops, individual employment counselling, and connections to employers. Services are tailored to meet the individual employment and training needs of each participant.

Success in the Workplace Understand employer expectations on your first day, week and month of a new job. Know where to find information about important employment legislation. Understand Canadian workplace cultural values, communication styles and behaviors and how to manage a career, manager and ongoing employment.

Language for Workplace Connections Language for Workplace Connections helps job seekers who want to improve their English language communication skills and learn more about Canadian workplace culture. This highly effective program is suitable for individuals with any professional background.

Talk English Café Our Talk English Café helps you to enhance your English conversation skills in a relaxed setting through informal discussion, interaction and trainer-directed activities. Receive guidance from qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor.

Understanding the Labour Market Understand the labour market and how it works including trends in Canada and the National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes. This workshop will benefit those who are unsure which occupations may be suitable for them.

Leadership Connections Leadership Connections helps internationally trained professionals in various sectors to find work in senior level roles that reflect their experience. You will learn about the critical aspects of leading and managing in a Canadian context and how to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients. The program was designed in consultation with employers, professional associations and academic institutions.

BRIDGE TRAINING PROGRAMS (INFORMATION SESSIONS)

Apprenticeship Information Session Learn more about the variety of career options available for tradespeople and how to get started as an apprentice, as well as information regarding tools and techniques.

Engineering Connections Engineering Connections supports internationally trained engineers to secure employment within the engineering sector. Participants learn and practice effective job search strategies, develop an understanding of workplace communication and employer expectations, and learn about the engineering labor market in the province and across Canada. They gain important insights on professional engineering standards and professional licensing in Ontario.

Building Your Brand Understand how to: create a profile card or a business card; present a 30-second summary; write a master and targeted resume, a cover letter; and how to prepare professional references. Career Self-Assessment Understand the differences between hard skills, soft skills and essentials skills. Recognize your personal characteristics and transferrable skills, including learning styles and how it relates to different career options. Connecting to the Labour Market Learn how to find externally posted employment opportunities and understand the hidden job market. Learn to network confidently, conduct company research to find employment opportunities, make cold contacts, and conduct information interviews to get information about upcoming positions. Mentoring Services Receive sector specific and occupation specific information, advice and help from working professionals in your field to develop your network of contacts in Canada Second Career Second Career provides eligible laid-off workers with skills training to help them find jobs in high-demand occupations in Ontario. Social Media And Your Job Search Understand the role of social media in today’s job search. Learn how to set up LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media accounts to build your brand and use social media to get a job.

If you have owned or operated a business outside Canada, or would like to launch one here, this innovative and informative program will assist you with setting up a successful small business in the Canadian market. The program provides you with training that is current and relevant to Canadian workplaces. The program has two streams: Customer Service that prepares you for the Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course, and an Insurance stream. Human Resources Connections Human Resources Connections helps internationally trained human resources professionals to find work in Canada. The program provides you with training that is current and relevant to Canadian workplaces. It builds on your previous human resources expertise by providing an orientation to your sector in Canada. The program is designed in consultation with employers, professional associations and academic institutions. Information Technology (IT) Connections IT Connections helps internationally trained IT professionals to find work in Canada. You will learn Canadian IT standards, terminology, and tips on how to succeed in your job search. You will also be connected to employers hiring in the sector. Supply Chain Connections Supply Chain Connections helps internationally trained professionals to find work in Canada. The program provides you with training that is current and relevant to Canadian workplaces. It builds on your previous experience by providing an orientation to the sector in Canada. The program was designed in consultation with employers, professional associations and academic institutions.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS JSW (Job Search Workshop) JSW focuses on simple, but critical questions that you need to answer before moving on to your job search. The JSW program offers two workshops: the Occupation Blueprint Workshop (Module One) and the Job Search Workshop (Module Two). START START is a 9-week program designed to support immigrant women with launching their careers in the customer care sector in Canada. This program provides participants with industry-recognized certifications, computer training, job search support and coaching.

*PAYE Program Info Session Youth aged 18-29 can learn more about the Partnership to Advance Youth Employment (PAYE) program and current job opportunities. This is an initiative between employers, the City of Toronto and community organizations like ACCES.
