Management Annual Leave Policy

PAGE

ADOPTION DATE

UPDATED

October 2012

It shall be the policy of the agency to provide employees Annual Leave (vacation) with pay. Twenty (20) days are the maximum number of days that any MAAC management employee can accrue in any one year of employment. Part time employees will accrue Annual Leave time on a pro-rata basis to the amount of time that they are hired for and/or the amount of time that they work (i.e., 50%, 75%, etc.). Unused Annual Leave, of up to 160 hours, may carry over into the next calendar year (Annual Leave accumulated and not taken during the current calendar year). Annual Leave accrual shall cease once an employee has accrued 160 hours unless a higher accrual balance is authorized in writing by the President/CEO or his/her designee. Annual leave may be utilized to accommodate religious/personal beliefs. If a Management employee has left MAAC employment and then returned at a later date to MAAC employment, the date that the employee was rehired is the date used for ascertaining the accrual rate for Annual Leave that said employee may earn. For purposes of determining Annual Leave accruals, the date that an employee was hired or rehired is called the anniversary date. However, if the employee was laid off, and returned to MAAC employment within one year of the layoff date, the original hire date will be utilized. If a holiday falls during the employee's vacation, that day shall not be charged against his/her Annual Leave balance. Employees who resign or are terminated shall receive pro-rated Annual Leave pay for the number of completed payroll periods worked subject to the limitations above.
