The Community Outreach site in Pine River will be the location for free technology training workshops. The Cass County Economic Development Corporation has partnered with Central Lakes College, Pine River Backus Schools, Hunt Utility Group and the Initiative Foundation on the Outreach Center. For the months of September and October, these software workshops are scheduled from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday MS Excel 1 MS Excel 2 MS Word MS PowerPoint Excel classes will include spreadsheets, doing basic math, formulas and charts. Word training will include formatting, margins and editing tools. The Power Point workshops will include creating slides, layouts, themes and notes. From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM the public is invited to use the lab to take internet based college courses or work 1:1 with the coordinator. Internet college classes are offered by Central Lakes College and a wide variety of educational providers. The computer lab coordinator will help bring together those options. The goal of the training is to strengthen local business skills, improve efficiency at small businesses and prepare future students to return to college. There is a limit of five attendees at each workshop. The computer lab and training is courtesy of a grant from the TD Foundation in Washington, DC. The Cass County EDC is a community non-profit corporation with the mission to “Improve the business environment of Cass County by encouraging a strong, diverse and sustainable economy and to build better relationships between business, government agencies and local communities.” ### END ###
