July 5, 2017 To: Marshall City Commission From: Jack Redmon Director of Support Services RE: City Hall Annex As you know, we are in the midst of our budget process and there are many buildings and infrastructure needs to be addressed. The City Hall Annex building will be requiring a new roof and many improvements on the inside of the building. This facility does not meet the needs of four of the five divisions occupying this facility. We actually have two problems with leaving this building and relocating our Court with the other divisions. Court cannot be located where the garage and the Parks Department reside due to the noise level of the normal work environment. We have to build or lease in a location that affords dark fiber to the building. This pretty much limits our options to the fire district, Highway 59 or Highway 80. Running dark fiber from our carrier to a building out of their service area can cost a 100K. We have several options I have listed below: 1. We can lease a facility with the option to purchase. This will afford us the time to handle this in a future budget. 2. Build a metal building with offices and space to house all IT and give us options on where we will be located and put court in a separate location. 3. Spend the money to rebuild the Annex or tear it down and build a facility that suits our needs. I don’t really care for this option because of the cost.
