Media Advisory FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 14, 2015 Customers advised about wastewater overflow near 1339 NE Davidson Road (Kansas City, Mo.) – KC Water Services responded to a wastewater overflow near 1339 NE Davidson Road on Thursday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. The overflow was the result of a 12” main that was damaged by a fallen tree and erosion. Wastewater was discharged at a rate of approximately ten gallons per minute with an estimated total of 1,050 gallons spilled. The sewage entered a storm drainage ditch which leads to the Missouri river. The overflow ended at 3:45 p.m. that same day. Repair crews constructed a berm downstream and pumped the sewage back into the collection system. The 12” main has been repaired and normal flow to the collection system has been restored. Cleaning crews jetted the main to ensure there was no debris that would contribute to the overflow. This storm drainage ditch will be flushed until clear and pumped into the system.
