Regular Meeting of the Board – March 25, 2014 This meeting is a meeting of the School Board in public for the purpose of conducting the School Corporation business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There will be time for public comment as indicated on the agenda. RECOGNITION – Dr. Barker BEIGER SCHOOL PRESENTATION The program will begin with School Librarian Mrs. Beth Schwier, who will share many of the school’s library activities this year. Assisting her are Da Shana Hall, Logan Bingaman, Chase Johnston, and Ethan Stanton. This will be followed by a report from third grade teacher Mr. Dave Weber about the third grade sleep-in. Tanner Parmley, Marissa Rowe, and Alana Sandoval will help to share about this overnight experience. Principal Dean Fecher introduced Mrs. Schwier saying that she maintains multiple activities through the year. With the help of her students, Mrs. Schwier described many of the library happenings, including Family Reading Night, Read across America, Turn off the TV Week, Reading Olympics, and Genre Lunch in the Library. After that Mr. Weber talked about the third grade Awesome Overnight Experience. This was the tenth year for this sleep-in. Students enjoyed activities such as a scavenger hunt, egg drop, and winter Olympics. A memory book was created at the end of the event. Mr. Fecher also attended the overnight event. He commended Mrs. Schwier, Mr. Weber, and the entire staff for their great work ethic and teamwork.

REPRESENTATIVES OF MISHAWAKA EDUCATION FOUNDATION Steve Nilles reported that the Foundation recently helped to sponsor the Mishawaka High School Senior Recognition dinner. Also, the Major Saver fundraiser is underway. This event raised $45.000 in recent years and all of the proceeds were used to upgrade the wireless connectivity in the schools.
