Arbor Day is celebrated by millions of people across our country every year. It is a day that reminds us of the many benefits trees provide our community. Trees are an asset that has investment value: they conserve energy through shade and wind block, filter air pollution, reduce storm runoff, and increase property value.

Since 2003, Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) has involved the community in an annual Arbor Day celebration. As part of the festivities, a poster contest for Rochester elementary students is held. This calendar features entries from 2017. RPU would like to thank all of the students who have participated in our poster contest over the years. These talented young artists help remind us of the importance of trees in our community.
Children learn how to properly plant a tree at RPU’s Annual Arbor Day Celebration.
RPU encourages our customers to plant trees through our Partners in Planting program. We’ve partnered with American Public Power Association’s (APPA) TREE POWER program – a nationwide effort by public power utilities to plant trees.
