Dynamic and growing not-for-profit organisation. Passionate, professional and ambitious team, working together to close the education gap. Flexible and inclusive workplace culture with a focus on work/life balance.

About us There is a three year achievement gap between Australia’s best and worst performing school students. Worse, this gap is largely defined by socioeconomic, geographic and ethnic lines. Teach For Australia’s vision is of an Australia, where all children, regardless of background, attain an excellent education. We work towards this vision by recruiting highly competent individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and training and developing them to become exceptional teachers and inspirational leaders that meet the needs of schools in low socioeconomic communities and the broader education system. The Australian Government Department of Education is a major supporter of the Teach For Australia initiative. About the position As a Teaching and Leadership Adviser, you play the integral role of supporting and coaching Teach for Australia Associates as leaders in the classroom, in school and beyond. Through the use of rigorous coaching techniques, you will support, challenge, guide and develop the Associates to set and achieve ambitious student impact goals through effective planning, engagement, implementation and reflection. By engaging the Associates inside and outside their day-to-day classroom activities, the Teaching and Leadership Adviser supports them to achieve impressive results with their classes through the explicit development of the Associates’ own leadership practices and to develop into lifelong change agents committed to addressing educational disadvantage. In this role, you will collaborate regularly with Student Academic Mentors (SAM’s) from Deakin University (DU), in-school mentors and executive leaders within schools. This role coaches the Associates on working with the broader school context and local communities in order to build effective school-community partnerships to ensure a shared commitment to ending inequality in education. About you You are a passionate educator with outstanding practical teaching ability as demonstrated by your work in school settings. You have exceptional coaching skills and have the capacity to apply them when working with inexperienced teachers in a disadvantaged school setting. You have a demonstrated ability to develop and enhance strong partnerships with schools and with school leaders. You maintain motivation when working independently. How to apply Apply by submitting your CV along with a cover letter to both [email protected] and [email protected] by midnight on Sunday 11th December 2016.
