Queen Elizabeth Boldly Shares Her Faith In her 2015 Christmas Message, our Head of State Queen Elizabeth once again spoke boldly of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Queen, who is 89, said, “It is true that the world has had to confront moments of darkness this year, but the Gospel of John contains a verse of great hope, often read at Christmas carol services: ‘The light shines in the darkness & the darkness has not overcome it.’” The Queen, who personally writes her Christmas speeches reminded her worldwide audience that Christianity’s unchanging message “…was not one of revenge or violence but simply that we should love one another.” She added: “There’s an old saying that it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.” At the end of her speech the Queen said, “There are millions of people lighting candles of hope in our world today. Christmas is a good time to be thankful for them & for all that brings light to our lives.” Let us give thanks for the witness of the Queen & pray for her & her family.

MBCC is an intentionally multi-cultural church & welcomes and celebrates all languages & cultures. 我们是一个多元文化的教会,欢迎中国朋友参加. どの国の方も大歓迎します。 If this is your first time worshipping with us, please go to the Welcome Corner after the service. We have a small gift for you & will gladly answer your questions about our church. If you would like to hear a Chinese or Japanese translation, please ask for a headset.

A Word from the Pastor I believe 2016 is going to be a very special year for our church. We greatly look forward to welcoming our new pastor Abri Brancken, his wife Leoni & their three boys Migaél (13), Ariél (10) & Yoél (6) some time towards the end of February. Abri officially begins as pastor at MBCC on March 1. Let us pray for the smooth & timely processing of their visas & let us also remember them as they say farewell to their church & many friends in both Mauritius & South Africa & move to New Zealand. Elizabeth & I are hoping over the next couple of months to get sorted & packed so that the Brancken family can move straight in & get settled. The church is very grateful to Ron Packer for doing much-needed renovation (mostly patching cracks in the outside walls) & to Dan Iouras for organizing the painting of the manse. No major work has been done on the manse since it was built in 1998. We pray that the church & each one of you will be richly blessed in 2016. God bless, Peter

Verse of the Week “Flee the evil desires of youth & pursue righteousness, faith, love & peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22)
