Day at the Races
We begin our departure from Ochsner River Parish Medical Center in front of the Medical Office Building at 9:00 a.m. Proceed to Ochsner Kenner Medical Center, pick up at 9:30 a.m. and then continue to pick up at Main Campus and then proceed to the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course. We will leave the Fair Grounds at 3:00 p.m., travel to Ochsner Main Campus then proceed to Ochsner Kenner and then to Ochsner River Parish arrive at approx. 4:30 p.m. We will travel via Ochsner Bus. The cost of this excursion is $45; this includes Ochsner Bus transportation, and lunch. Please see the enclosed flyer for more details. February 16, 2016 (Tuesday):
Movie Day
The movie of the month will be Moonstruck with Cher, Nicholas Cage, Olympia Dukakis, and Danny Aiello. Cher won the Academy Award for Best Actress and Olympia Dukakis won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Led by energetic performances from Nicholas Cage and Cher, Moonstruck is an exuberantly funny tribute to love and one of the decade’s most appealing comedies. The showing of the movie will be in the River Parish Medical Office Bldg. in the 3rd floor Conference Room at 2:00 p.m. The movie is Rated PG and is 102 minutes long. Hope to see you at the movie! River Parish Lunch Bunch
Come pass a good time at the Truck Farm Restaurant at 11760 River Road, St. Rose. We will not have a bus to transport, so we will meet at the restaurant for 11:30 a.m. Lunch on your own, which will take a little longer to process. Please note the day of the week is scheduled for a Monday, which is the slower day of the week. I’ve heard from several people about how delicious the food is at Truck Farm Restaurant. Please RSVP ***Please know that both the River Parish Region of Golden Opportunity and the Kenner Parish Region of Golden Opportunity are welcome to join us in attending each or either restaurant and are welcome to join any event that is offered, As long as there is available space and you RSVP. February 25, 2016 (Thursday):
Avery Island, Lafayette, LA
Road trip to Avery Island! Pick up at Ochsner Kenner at 9:00 a.m. then to Ochsner River Parish pick up at 9:30 a.m. Then we start our leisure trip to Avery Island. There is much to see and due at Avery Island, such as, touring the Tabasco museum, viewing of the pepper plants, how Tabasco is made, bottled, labeled, packing and distribution. The bottle labels are printed in 19 non-English languages, and distributed all over the world. Lunch on your own at the Pearl House Restaurant in New Iberia, which is just a short drive from Avery Island. We will then head home. The cost of the trip will be $27.00 Please RSVP
