Christians Against Poverty Next week we welcome Robyn France from Christians Against Poverty (CAP) who will bring a message entitled “God’s Heart for the Poor – stories of debt, poverty & hope”. CAP started in the UK in 1996 & came to NZ in 2007. Partnering with churches they provide holistic debt help, run courses helping people manage their money & organize groups that assist people struggling with addictions.

The Chinese/English group led by Xiang Hong is held every week. Kuniko leads the Japanese/English group that meets on the second, fourth & fifth Thursdays of the month. There is a desperate need for a longer-term helper in the Chinese group. We need a mother willing to offer her time & talent to serve alongside Xiang Hong in this most worthwhile ministry. If you can help, please talk with Xiang Hong or Elizabeth.

Today we are looking at a truly powerful passage of Scripture where Paul describes coming to the end of his life’s journey. He says “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We will look at how Paul finished well. Another person who finished well was Olympic runner Eric Liddell, who went as a missionary to China. Just before the end of the 2nd World War he died in a Japanese internment camp in Shandong. He was only 43. This is how a young boy in the camp described “Uncle Eric” many years later: “None of us will ever forget this man who was totally committed to putting God first, a man whose humble life combined muscular Christianity with radiant godliness.” Indeed Eric Liddell, like the apostle Paul, finished well!

(aged 8-12) Tomorrow ICONZ 4 Boys are to enjoy a trip around Auckland Harbour on a tugboat leaving Bayswater Marina at 6.30 PM. Parents are welcome. The boat returns to the Marina at 7.30 or 7.45PM. Confirm attendance to: [email protected] or phone or txt to 0274-975-862

God bless, Peter
