The Queen Testifies To Her Faith Queen Elizabeth II is New Zealand's Head of State. Her personal representative, the Governor General Jerry Mateparae carries out most of her constitutional & ceremonial duties. The Queen in her recent Christmas Day message once again spoke openly about her faith in the Lord Jesus. The theme of her message for Christmas Day 2014 was reconciliation & her Majesty referred to the famous 1914 Christmas Truce during the First World War when “...without any instruction or command, the shooting stopped & German & British soldiers met in No Man’s Land. ” Here are a few more quotes from the Queen's message:

Knowing Jesus and Making Him Known

4th. January 2015 Sunday Services (9am & 11am)

“Loving Jesus” Preacher: Rachel Twemlow Readings: Luke 7:36-50

“For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose birth we celebrate today, is an inspiration & an anchor in my life. A role-model of reconciliation & forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance & healing. Christ’s example has taught me to seek to respect & value all people of whatever faith or none. Sometimes it seems that reconciliation stands little chance in the face of war and discord. But, as the Christmas truce a century ago reminds us, peace & goodwill have lasting power in the hearts of men & women. On that chilly Christmas Eve in 1914 many of the German forces sang “Silent Night”, its haunting melody inching across the line. That carol is still muchloved today, a legacy of the Christmas truce, and a reminder to us all that even in the unlikeliest of places hope can still be found.”

Church Camp February Carey Park in West Auckland is the venue for our bi-annual Church Camp (Friday 27 Feb to Sun 1 March 2015). Carey Park has great facilities for kids & young people. Mark your diaries & plan on bringing the whole family.

MBCC is an intentionally multi-cultural church & welcomes and celebrates all languages & cultures. 我们是一个多元文化的教会,欢迎中国朋友参加. どの国の方も大歓迎します。 If this is your first time worshipping with us, please go to the Welcome Corner after the service. We have a small gift for you & will gladly answer your questions about our church. If you would like to hear a Chinese or Japanese translation, please ask for a headset.

A Word from the Pastor Elizabeth & I want to take this opportunity (the first Sunday of a new year) to thank each one of you for all you have done & continue to do as part of our church family. We also want to thank you for your kind greetings & expressions of love & support. The Lord sees your labours of love & when you welcome & serve others you are doing it as to Him. Looking back over 2014 there is so much for which to give thanks. Many gave their hearts to Jesus. A total of 21 brothers & sisters were baptised during 2014 - giving public confession of their faith. Next Sunday we expect to have the joy of seeing another 6 sisters go through the waters of baptism. It has been a blessing having Lyndon & Rachel & Zoe & Benjamin with us over the past 6 weeks - halfway through Lyndon's time with us. Today Rachel will bring God's Word so a special thank you to her today. God bless you, Peter

CHURCH NEWS

PRAYER ITEMS GIVE THANKS FOR:

Update on the Twemlows Rachel Twemlow (Lyndon's wife) is sharing with us today. She & their two teenagers (Zoe & Benjamin) have been a great support to Lyndon & also a blessing to us all. Lyndon is over halfway through his 3-month practicum with us. When Stephen & Jennifer Xu & family return from China on Jan 15, the Twemlows will move into the manse, to be vacated by Peter & Elizabeth who will be taking 3 weeks of annual leave.

Big Sunday Next Week Next Sunday is going to be very special. Lyndon will preach for us at the 9am service but at the 11 am service we have: 1. The induction of new Chinese Pastoral Care Worker, Wendy (Wen Hua) Liu; and 2. The baptism of 6 sisters - Sister Ren, Yan Yan Wang, & Patricia (Shan Shan) Wu, Cass Yang, Helen Zhang, & Chang Ju Zhao. Do pray for each one as they prepare their testimonies.

More On Wendy Liu Most of our Chinese-speaking members already know Wendy. She has spoken at the monthly Chinese Worship Service & leads two Life Groups in Red Beach & Silverdale. She has also played a major role in organizing large inter-church outreach events sponsored by Chinese Churches. For 20 years Wendy has been part of the New Hope Chinese Church. We are deeply grateful to her church for releasing & blessing her for her new ministry amongst us.

 The blessing of our various Christmas activities & services, and for the many friends & neighbours we were able to connect with over the Christmas season.  Last Sunday as many (young & old) gave thanks to the Lord for His goodness & blessing during 2014.  The ministry amongst us of the Twemlow family.  Young Fei Fei Wang who gave her heart to Jesus at the Church Prayer Meeting last Sunday evening.  The wonderful turnout for the Christmas Outreach held in the Urayasu Church in Tokyo, where KO & Stella are pastoring. Give thanks too that Jo Anderson & the Hayes family were able to visit KO & Stella when they were in Japan recently. PRAY FOR:

 Those being baptised next Sunday.  Those needing God’s healing touch.  York Li in hospital after another mild stroke. Remember Hoong as well & other family members.  Grace Pun getting married to Emmanuel in Hong Kong on Sat 10.  Planning for Church Camp in February - & for Melissa Tang heading the planning committee.  Those still away on holiday - for safety, health & blessing.  Those grieving the loss of loved ones - including those killed when the AirAsia flight QZ8501 was lost.  Queen Elizabeth II & for our Governor General Jerry Mateparae.
