FULL SCHEDULE GRID NOTES                        

Lecture Block B can be used for any courses with no expected freshman enrollment because the FYHH 1010/FYHH 1020 course will use this time for the lecture part of the courses. In regards to the FYHH classes, teams will meet in the same room. Lecture Block G can be used for any courses with no expected freshman enrollment because FYHH 1010/FYHH 1020 course will use this time (through G.1 and G.2) for the discussion part of the courses. In regards to the FYHH classes, all sections will meet in different rooms. Instructors will remain in room while students rotate. Lecture Blocks A, C, D, E, F, H, I, and J can be used for any courses. MUSC 15S1 Singers meets during the Meeting Time on Tuesday and Thursday. PERS 1000 Foundations meets during the Meeting Time on Thursdays only. It is recommended that an additional PERS 1000 course be offered at night for freshman in Singers, because of the time conflict; this may need to be reviewed semester to semester though. *Ventures (FYCS 1010) and Discovery (FYCS 1050) can be offered in Blocks A, C, D or H but each Lecture Block is linked to the particular Lab Block (for group work) in the same way that Lab Science courses are, as detailed below. Blocks E, F, I, and J can also be used for Ventures courses, if the Friday afternoon block is used for group work. **Lab Block 1 is linked to Lecture A for Freshman courses or Non-Freshman Courses, and Lecture B for Non-Freshman Courses only. **Lab Block 2 is linked to Lecture D for Freshman or Non-Freshman Courses, and Lecture G for Non-Freshman courses only. **Lab Block 3 is linked to Lecture C. **Lab Block 4 is linked to Lecture B (no freshman courses). **Lab Block 5 is linked to Lecture H. Language Lab A is linked to Lecture Block A. Language Lab B is linked to Lecture Block B. Language Lab C is linked to Lecture Block C. Language Lab D is linked to Lecture Block D. Studio Art Block 1 encompasses Lab Block 1 and Lecture Block E (Wednesday part only). Studio Art Block 2 encompasses Lab Block 5 and Lecture Block H (Tuesday part only). Studio Art Block 3 encompasses Lab Block 2 and Lecture Block H (Thursday part only). Studio Art Block 4 is an extra studio art block that may be used on a term-by-term basis, and is studio time for courses with no freshman enrollment. The only courses permitted to be offered (and coded as such in Major Access) during the Protected Period for Student Life are: MUSC 15C1 (Chamber Singers), THEA courses, and Mocktrial. The Community Service/Group Work Block on Fridays is extra time for service learning/group work, if faculty choose to use it. The MATH department may use a lecture block that has 3 contact points; 2 of them will be lecture based in a lecture room and 1 of them will be in a computer lab: SHH 161 or SHH 165. 1-credit hour courses may use one day of a lecture block. For example, if they choose Lecture Block J, they could choose whether to hold the class on T or TH from 2:30pm-4:00pm. Instructors of these courses are encouraged to use less popular time blocks. Film classes may utilize additional class (film viewing) time from 6:30pm-9:30pm during the “Undergraduate Night Class” block. SUMMER ONLY: Classes are offered 8am-10am M,T,W,TH,F and 10am-12noon M,T,W,TH,F.

*Ventures and Discovery (as well as Connections even though they do not have labs) are spread out and equally distributed among the available time blocks to create as much flexibility in student scheduling as possible. Departments offering these classes will be scheduled in particular time blocks on a rotating basis to ensure all departments are cyclically granted both popular and unpopular time blocks. It is recommended that Discovery classes are offered during less popular time blocks to ensure transfer students can take both Discovery as well as other required courses. **Department Chairs may, on an individual student basis and with the approval of the Associate Dean, break normal science lecture/lab marriage protocol, if needed. A Change of Schedule form, with the signatures of the Department Chair, Associate Dean, faculty member, advisor, and student, would need to be signed and turned into the Office of Records.
