21st December 2014 Sunday Services (9am & 11am)

“Good News of Great Joy” Preacher: Peter Anderson

Reading: Luke 2:8-15

Today we are looking at Luke’s well-known account of the angel’s announcement to the shepherds of the birth of the Saviour. This is the same passage of Scripture that Samuel Marsden used on Christmas Day 1814 when the Gospel was first preached to the Maori people. The 200th anniversary of that historic occasion is being celebrated around our nation. Both today & also on Christmas Day itself special services are being held on the same grassy hillside overlooking Oihi Bay, Bay of Islands where Marsden preached to over 400 Maori & where his friend Maori chief Ruatara gave a translation in the Maori language of what Marsden had said. The Gospel is indeed Good News – turning our fear into joy & bringing us peace. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------st

“Loving Jesus” Preacher: Rachel Twemlow Series on ‘encountering Jesus’

Family Service led by Lyndon Twemlow

Come and sing happy birthday to Jesus, light the ‘Christ candle’ and worship Jesus as we look at the miracle of God coming to earth.
