SEATTLE, WA: On the evening of Saturday, April 20th, 2013, supporters of Camp Ten Trees will once again gather at Herban Feast’s SODO Park for an annual tradition, a spring auction fundraiser that makes this residential summer camp for children and youth of LGBTQA families and communities possible. “Come Out & Play!” is the theme for this year’s event, the 12th annual Camp Ten Trees dinner and auction fundraiser. The organization offered its first residential summer camp sessions in the summer of 2001. Camp Ten Trees was one of the very first of only a handful of such programs in the world and is still the Pacific Northwest’s only residential summer camp for children and youth of LGBTQ families and for youth who are themselves LGBTQ or Allies. At Camp Ten Trees, these children and youth find a place of loving engagement, a place to build resiliency, a place to nurture the skills that strengthen their communities, and a place to be the change they wish to see in the world. Camp Ten Trees is seeking auction item donations of all kinds for “Come Out & Play!” Each year, over 50% of Camp Ten Trees campers request need-based financial assistance beyond the low end of this non-profit’s camp tuition sliding scale. Funds raised via the annual spring auction provide for a Campership (need-based scholarship) program for these campers and also help to maintain low sliding scale fees in general. Thanks to generous community support, Camp Ten Trees has never had to turn away a potential camper for financial reasons. VIP tickets are $125 and include a pre-event cocktail party with fabulous drinks and appetizers, early bidding opportunities, a camp-y gift bag of goodies, free raffle tickets, and more!
