Informational Outreach Forum The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), in partnership with Metropolitan State College of Denver, invites you to attend this free informational outreach forum. The event will include an introduction to, and overview of, several DOL agencies regarding their missions, responsibilities and functions. The agency introductions will be followed by 60-minute sessions designed to assist employers, workers, community based organizations, unions and others in gaining knowledge about the workplace laws and regulations administered by DOL. The sessions will also provide answers to frequently asked questions about these DOL agencies. Anyone interested in attending this forum should complete the enclosed registration form. You may attend plenary sessions and select from several workshops which will run concurrently at 9:00, and 10:15. Employers, workers, and community based organizations may have more than one representative attend; however, each person must register indicating session preferences. Space will be limited on a first come, first served basis.

1 SET OF WORKSHOPS Globally Harmonized System for Hazard Communication: OSHA Presentation. In March 2012 OSHA published a final rule changing the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS). The changes are bringing the U.S. into alignment with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the major changes in the HCS, including HCS sections that have changed; changes in requirements for labeling; effective dates; and other OSHA standards affected by the HCS. The Wage and Hour Division and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will provide a presentation regarding independent contractors in the workplace.
