Opening Ceremonies. Naomi Talsky helped to lead the crowd in the Special Olympics Oath, and Cole English and his dad, Dwayne, lit the Flame of Hope. Midwest Orthapaedics at Rush and The Stack Family Foundation sponsored the Young Athletes event at Summer Games. The Young Athletes program itself has exploded in the past year with 2,000 athletes registered in 39 agencies across the state. An additional 75 families are conducting the Young Athletes program in their homes. Special Olympics Illinois has far surpassed all the goals for this program and we are currently evaluating the program and building our infrastructure for the next group of Young Athletes to sign on. In the future, the Young Athletes program will focus on a few key areas: • Young Athletes programs will receive assistance transitioning into the traditional Special Olympics program by
