A Shared Vision of Your Future! Overall recruiting by companies at SIUE this year increased by 10%. On Campus Interviewing was up 23% and career fair participation was up 36%. At the October Career Fair ’05, 136 companies attended with 1057 job seekers networking with these companies. Career Network ’06, had 112 companies in attendance and 809 job seekers. The Education Fair ‘06 hosted 35 school districts and 322 job seekers. This was a total of 283 companies and 2188 job seekers at all of our fairs this year. We continue to have SIUE alumni and currently enrolled students attending the career fairs as well as students from McKendree College, Principia College, Blackburn College and Greenville College. Our employers appreciate the opportunity to make contact with students from these colleges as well as our own SIUE students and alumni. The number of presentations we give each year increased by 44% and the number of participants at our presentations increased by 18%. One of the greatest increases came in the posting of jobs by employers. We saw a 37% increase in the number of full-time/career positions, Cooperative Education opportunities and internships. We started a new internship with the State of Illinois, the Vince Demuzio Governmental Internship. SIUE has 15 internships through this program each semester with students working with State legislators and in IL agencies and departments. These are paid internships for 2 credit hours.
Academic Year 2006-07 in the Career Development Center Events • Career Carnival - Tuesday, September 12, 2006 on the Quad from 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m. Career games will be offered with prizes supplied by various companies. • On-Campus Interviewing will begin the first week of October and conclude in early December for the Fall Semester. Interviews will begin in February and conclude in April for the Spring Semester. The interview schedule is available on the CDC’s web site. • The “Image Seminar” - Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 9:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. with guest speakers and employers presenting the workshops. Students may register for the seminar anytime until February 2, 2007. Check the CDC web site for more information. • The CDC staff are available to give presentations to classes, student organizations, etc. Please contact us for more information on presentations. New date & location.
