Education Team January 20, 2015 9:00 People Present: Elery Keene, Susan MacKenzie, John Reuthe, Bonnie Sammons, Linda Woods Considering changing our name to Community Outreach Bonnie showed a power point that highlights the effects of climate change. (It was very engaging.) She is basing this on Visualizing Climate Change by Stephen R.J. Sheppard. We agreed it is important to create something for the impact locally. Goal: Building a vision for another type of future Scope: Causes/impacts/mitigation/adaptations/imagining resilient futures Frequency: once a month? John spoke of the requests he has received to repeat his 101 series. The Heating 101 was the best attended because it focused on the cost to individuals. Potential Topics for continuation of 101:  CMP—how to monitor home use and reduce costs  Solar (Vaughan? In April?)  Herb Wilson about changing bird habits  Small Woodlot Owners of Maine  Lobster/fishing—Robin Alden?  Nick Bennett—NRCM  Lisa Fernandez—permaculture  John Joseph—economic focus  Maine Primitive Skills School How do we find an audience?  Advertisements in the paper  Film the 101 presentations & put on web site  Climate Solutions interactive web site Action Items: John: Contact Peter Wintle Bonnie: Contact Maine Primitive Skills School & Lisa Fernandez Everyone: Think schedule—What is the best time? (6 to 8?) Place? (City Council Chambers? Winslow Library?) Day?

The next meeting will be Wednesday, February 18 at 9:00 in the IT room.
