Cégep Heritage College Much Needed Expansion Given Go-Ahead Usually, the announcement of construction work gets a lukewarm reception. After all, such projects bring their share of noise, access restrictions and other inconveniences. This time however, the April 13 announcement of an $ 11.9 million expansion project at Cégep Heritage College was greeted with smiles and satisfaction. The investment will allow for the construction of additional classrooms and student spaces at Heritage’s main campus on Cité-des-Jeunes, and will address the additional space requirements of certain services such as the library and the physical education facilities. Heritage was originally built for 800 students; a mark that was surpassed over five years ago. The Cégep currently has 1200 students. Over the past two years, the College’s Building and Computer Services worked with the Ministry to prepare initial architectural plans for an addition to the existing building. Architectural plan consultations with staff, which were held in June and August, have been completed. As a result, the plans have been finalized and we are preparing the public tenders for the construction work, which will be posted in October. We expect that the construction will begin mid -November, with an anticipated completion date of fall, 2016.
